Intro to Best Practices for Recovery of Digital Video

Course Overview:

This two-day in-person class is for those needing to gain a basic understanding of digital and cloud-based recording systems. It’s for those in law enforcement / government agencies, corporate or private sector who are likely to encounter this type of evidence. This training provides skills to recover the video in a sound manner and make use of the video recovered. The class will also highlight concerns in digital video, sources of information/knowledge, and further training.

Objectives:

  • Day 1 will be spent identifying the different types of embedded CCTV systems law enforcement is likely to encounter. The majority of the day will be hands-on interactions with recorders. Some of
these labs will be instructor-led led and some will be assigned as students gain an understanding of how to manage a basic recovery.
  • Day 2 will be spent understanding the different cloud-based systems law enforcement is likely to
encounter and best practices related to the recovery of evidence from these systems. The day will
be spent with hands-on labs with different cloud-based systems. Additionally, part of the day will be spent dealing with how to get video recovered from any system to play and how to document the steps of recovery for court.
