As in the past, the main conference sessions are separated into a Video Production track and Video Evidence Symposium. Production sessions will cover file-based workflows, advanced editing techniques, long-form storytelling, and more. Video evidence topics include digital interview rooms, hashing, and case studies, as well as a panel discussion on accreditation from the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB).
There will also be several joint sessions including “Color Correction” and “Video Formats & CODECS: Technologies & Techniques for Media Acquisition, Editing, Interchange & Delivery.” Additional sessions for both tracks will be added over the coming weeks.
“LEVA members come from a variety of international law enforcement, military and public safety agencies,” explained Alan Salmon, LEVA President and Forensic Video Analyst/Special Investigator for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. “However, the job responsibilities for the majority of our members fit into two distinct areas of interest, which require very different skill sets. Whether an officer produces instructional videos or preps video evidence for trial, our conference can provide the critical training needed.”
Pre-conference workshops will focus on forensic video topics. “Expert Witness Preparation and Testimony” is a three-day workshop that begins on Sunday, Nov. 15. Two-day workshops, which begin on Monday, Nov. 16, include “Cell Phone Forensics” and “Reverse Projection.” All pre-conference workshops and many Video Evidence Symposium sessions can help attendees earn hours toward LEVA forensic video analyst certification.
LEVA attendees can reserve lodging at the Fort Worth Hilton at discounted rates during the conference. Attendees do not need to be a member of LEVA to attend the conference, but they do need to book their rooms by Oct. 15 to take advantage of the special conference room rates.
